Sweet Pepper Chutney
Prep Time: 5 mins | Cook Time: 15 mins | Serves: 4

Ingredients
Oil – 1 tbsp
Sweet Peppers – 10
Onion – 1 medium size
Channa Dal – 1 tbsp
Urad Dal – 1 tbsp
Red Chilli – 2
Asafoetida – 1/4 tsp
Curry Leaves – 1 sprig
Salt – as needed
To Temper
Oil – 1 tbsp
Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp
Urad Dal – 1 tsp
Curry leaves – 1 sprig
Method
- Heat oil in a pan, add Channa dal, urad dal and red chillies, fry until golden brown.
- Add onion and sauté well. Then add chopped sweet peppers and fry until raw smell goes.
- Add asafoetida and curry leaves, give a quick stir and allow it to cool.
- Grind everything to a smooth paste along with salt.
- Temper the chutney with ingredients listed under “To Temper”.

Serve this chutney with hot and crispy dosa or Soft Idlies.
Notes
- Increase the amount of red chillies to suit your taste buds.
- You can also add tomatoes or Tamarind for a tangy taste.
